Last thing you'll ever read…again
That’s just the way I am
I enjoy making my computer as "neat" as possible. I hate having a cluttered, disorganised computer.
In fact, I’m so crazy about keeping a "clean" computer that I managed to get my 43 processes down to 16 on my old XP machine.
Vista is a totally different story…I’ve still yet to know which processes are essential and which bits are not…I’ve disabled about a handful of services but…the process number is still up there in the 40s. But yeah…Vista at least provides you with a by default "neat and organised" computer. The registry is A LOT cleaner than XP and the documents and settings are organised in a more "nice" manner. The only thing I dislike is the number of junk progras packaged alongside it that I will use…ever…
Everything also seems to be a lot tightly integrated. Removing one thing might break something else…but yeah…I’m hoping VLite goes final soon so I can test how minimal I can actually get Vista to be.
It disturbs me when I see a cluttered desktop/tasktray. I think to myself "Why do you do this to your computer?". It’s sorta impossible to have a clean tasktray but a cluttered desktop but when I see a clean desktop with a cluttered tasktray I’m thinking "That’s like having an obese man trapped in a fat man’s body".
But yeah…I have this "obsession" of having the mot optimal solution to everything. I managed to get my ACM "subwords" down to 32 lines (without using any cheap tactics). In the end I had only one for loop, one if statement and a while loop. It was the shortest solution I’ve written for one of the hardest problems. Tim told me that my solution took 20seconds to run through all the test cases. That’s pretty damn good considering it beat all of his Java solutions (which took 100, 60 and 40 seconds respectively). Though I have a feeling mine wasn’t that much faster than his (if faster at all), since he may have gotten some digits mixed up…but I really am interested in seeing how fast my solution was.
Things to do after my INFO exam:
1) Call up JAV IT
2) Backup documents and settings
3) Format C and D
4) Install Vista
5) Install Ubuntu
6) Restore files
I might even use Ubuntu as my primary OS.
I got so many things planned this semester break and hopefully I can get most of them accomplished. Gah…I hope this doesn’t end up another one of those times where I get next to nothing done.
Things to get done:
1) WORK!!!
2) Get P’s!!!
3) Buy a webhost
4) SEC reunion?
5) Invite Fobs over
6) Train at Gym
7) Eye and dental checkup
9) Learn more JAVA!!! (I S2 Hashes)
10) Find a second job
(doubt this will happen)
11) Make Fob video (I said I would do this last holidays *whistles*)
I wish somebody can just make me keep these promises.
I should seriously concentrate on the upcoming exams rather than fantasising on what I will do…
