I remember when I got my FIRST job it was like "oh my, my first job,
how awesome" and then the sudden realisation that working at Pizza Hut
doesn’t really classify as a proper "job". So after working at Pizza
Hut for over a year it was just like "Do Not Want!" and I quit and I
used my hsc as the excuse.

So after a while  I was like "I need monies" so then I began applying
for jobs and after 1 reply and 3 no replies getting a job seemed a lot
harder than it seems. Just when I had stopped looking…one week later
I got a call from this woman called Katrina (how I remember her name I
have no idea…maybe it’s cause of her voice…) and after one phone
call, I was employed.

I was pretty excited…and I was thinking "wow…my second "first" real
job" and then I realised that my job can hardly classify as a job as:

a) I didn’t even get an interview
b) An idiot could do the job
c) The job description didn’t even match what we were doing

Who knew the term "Desktop Rollout Assistant" was synonymous with the
term "Unplugging and replugging computer parts". The pay was heaps good
though…22 an hour for work that anybody can do. It was good whilst it
lasted…by lasted I mean the time when they actually gave me heaps of
work to do. But after the "big" American Express project has
finished…it got a bit quiet. I’ve only worked ONCE since the day
before Valentine’s day. I’m also working tomorrow…so that would make
it TWICE in nearly 10 months.

By the way for those who were clueless I was pretty much living by
myself for the entire week…and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was
great. But anywho, after getting home on Tuesday I saw the local paper
and I thought to myself "I should start looking for that job" so I
decided to look for one but like usual the jobs on the paper for rather
faggy. So then I decided to go onto seak…and I typed in student under
search keyword…sydney as the location and I.T. as the category. The
results popped up and I was saw this entry that was rather enticing…I
applied immediately.

The next day I got a call and I was rather surprised…the guy began
giving this mini phone interview which in my opinion didn’t go too well
but he said I did okay and is going to submit my application to the
"real" company. Can anyone guess this company? :P So yes…I got rather
excited…he then called me like 1 hour later asking me what time I’m
free for any interview. I told him my times and that night I had an
confirmation email sent to my inbox saying that my interview was at 3.

I got rather excited…well come on…who wouldn’t be? I mean…rarely
do you get THESE opportunities. And naturally I began thinking about
bad thoughts of me failing. Anywho, the interview was today and I
brought change of clothes…relatively nice looking interview clothes.
I went to the place at 3 and we began the interview. The interviewees
were EXTREMELY nice. I liked it even more that one of them was
Indian/Bangladeshi mainly because then there wouldn’t be any
"discrimination". It went REALLY smoothly (except for one or two
hiccups :P ). After the interview the guy began showing me around the
site and he was like "When you’re here you can take a look at that
screen…blah…blah…blah". I was like thinking "wait a minute…what
did he say…does that mean i got the job?".

I got back to UNI and at around 5 o’clock the recruiter called me up saying that I had got the job!

Okay…you might be wondering what this job is…well…it’s nothing
flashy or impressive…but the fact that I got it means I’m not a bum
anymore. I’ll be a desktop support dude for…*drum rolls*…IBM
*ding*! It’s going to be GREAT…hopefully. I mean I can improve my
communication/people skills and improve my IT skills. I’m meant to
support around 450 different applications. Pretty damn cool.

Anywho, this is my blog, thanks for reading.

I’m out.
