I was walking to the train station and this thing went on in my head…

AMD: Suck shit Intel we made the first DUAL-CORE!!!
Ppl: WTF. that’s fully sick bro, but wtf is with the price! and it’s not actually any faster!
Intel: *sigh* We might as well release it too…
AMD: Ahahaha, copy cats! We were here first!
Intel: *sigh*
~3 Months Later~
Intel: Introducing CONROE!
Ppl: ZOMGWTFBBQ, HIGH PERFORMANCE AND IT’S CHEAP?!?!?!?!
AMD: We got pwnz0red
Intel: We wll also introduce the quadcore in Januaray 2007
AMD: Intel’s quadcore is just two dual cores stuck together…we will introduce REAL quadcore…
~9 months later~
AMD’s HEADOFFICE: ~tumbleweed rolls by~
Intel: Good work guys.

God I hate amd fanboys.

Anywho…

I formated my comp and installed Vista…AND…UBUNTU!!!

Here’s what happened yesterday…
  • Formated Vista
  • Installed Vista
  • realised that XP fucked up and created a EXTENDED partition
  • download partition magic
  • it tells me Vista isn’t supported
  • I format Vista
  • I install XP
  • install partition magic
  • realise that partition magic can’t solve the problem with EXTENDED partitions
  • realise also that the trial version doesn’t do shit but lets you see what it can actually do
  • cbb download full version and wasting 30 megs
  • formated xp
  • installed Vista
  • tried installing Ubuntu via the OFFICIAL guide
  • realised that parts of it were screwed thus corrupting my Vista partition
  • formated Vista
  • decided to just install vista on 50gig partition
  • allocated 10 gigs to ubuntu
  • installed ubuntu via APC guide

Everything was smooth from that point on.

This morning I decided to setup my Ubuntu with some other stuff.

  • Decided to install pidgin the HARD way
  • tried compiling and realised C dependencies were not installed
  • Installed C dependencies
  • tried compiling again…
  • realise that there were other dependencies which didn’t work
  • installed other dependencies
  • finally got pidgin up and running to realise that the ssl dependency was not installed
  • UNINSTALL pidgin
  • installed ssl dependency
  • recompiled
  • reinstalled

And then it was finally working. I could have just installed it via a package but i thought might as well do it the hard way.

It was pretty fun actually. I got pretty much everything setup.

Now I’m faced with a predicament. I’ve been using Ubuntu all day now…and right now is the first time that I’m actually using Vista…well Vista is nice and all…but Ubuntu is a lot more stable. A "quick" restart in Ubuntu takes literally 5 seconds…I shit you not.

HOWEVER, there are several limitations.

  • There is a "easy" way of accessing Window’s drives from Linux however, having Windows accessing linux is the BIGGEST bitch…theres like 3 different guides for the same thing except each is different and I reach a step where I just go "wtf" cause I just don’t see it…
  • I haven’t found a decent bittorrent client…I refuse to use Mainline, Azureus o Bittornado…
  • OpenOffice sucks balls. It sucks HUGE balls. Okay I haven’t really used it…but it SUCKS balls from first glance. I open up a document and yeah…it just looks soo outdated. When they (Microsoft) claimed that OpenOffice is 10years behind Office…I’d probably have to agree…but then again…I could always just use LaTeX. :P
  • In addtion OPERA DOES NOT SUPPORT 64bit!!!!! *cries*

Yup those are my biggest complaints. However, Ubuntu’s GUI just blows my boxz0rs. Flip 3D? Ubuntu’s CUBE blows all over you.

However, despite everything VISTA is a lot more comfortable. In the sense that I don’t feel cramped using my pc. Ubuntu just seems extremely cramped up…but I guess the cube makes up for it SOMEWHAT. For those wtfing at the "CUBE" you have to see it…to know what it is.

So yes…I guess…what I can do is finish download dragonball…and halo2…and then slowly transition over to ubuntu. And hopefully I can get networking setup 100%. :D A task for the holidays.
