Thought

I can make time

1am.

Tired.

Eyes droopy.

Head slightly woozy.

Night was good.

How high up am I?

What does the sign say next to this ladder?

Sleeping.

Not making any sense.

Computer OCD

My dad’s birthday is coming up and I thought I’d give him my old PC, but cover it up with a brand spanking new case so it feels “new”. It’ll replace a 7 year old Dell which has worked seamlessly without a problem during the 7 years. Quite amazing actually. But I foresee many more problems than it solves.

But let’s go through the problems that it solves first.

1) Windows 7 >>> Windows XP

2) No more “John why is my internet so slow?!” (when talking about the computer…) “No mum, firefox has frozen…just give it a second…there we go. See?”

3) Orders of magnitudes faster!

I think that’s more or less it.

Helping my dad to convert from XP to 7 is going to be a bigger problem. One problem my dad has is that for some odd reason he finds it “cool” to have multiple email addresses. He uses all of them. He has hotmail, gmail, yahoo, tpg mail and some other odd emails he’s collected over the years. What’s worse is the fact that he uses Outlook Express to manage them. So getting the emails from Outlook Express to another mail client will be a challenge.

In addition, over the years, we’ve made a couple of formats and each time we format, we backed up the data onto another partition. The problem is that he now has 3-4 backups spread across 2 partitions. So getting him to consolidate all his data will be another problem.

I will need to spend a good day or so getting him to consolidate his electronic life. Should be fun.

Does anybody wish to buy a 7 year old dell for $100?

Okay I think I’ve procrastinated enough need to get a start on that 40% report due Monday. I’ll have a rant about it but it’s really not worth the effort.

Interesting Statistics

So the above are the stats for the “views” per day on my blog.

May 4th was the day after the Spirit jailbreak was released. I had over 200 views on my blog post regarding jailbroken iphone apps.

May 9th was the day I took down that blog post as it was irrelevant and that post was subject to a lot of attention by spammers.

May 15th was the day that people stopped visiting the jailbroken iphone apps blog entry. I more or less singlehandedly killed 50% of my page views.

Not that I care anyway.
