The number that I dialed tonight…000.
Wasn’t for anyone I know, was for some bugger on the side of the road. I was driving home at around 1am in the morning and as I was driving past the zebra crossing I noticed a body just lying there. First thing I said was “What the FUCK?!”.
I would imagine at that moment, chemicals began flowing, logic gates closing and opening, what was I to do?
I made a 3-point turn, parked the car and approached the dude. He was curled up in an awkward position, passed out. My first guess would be either he drank too much or drugs. I called the ambulance and explained the situation. The operator then asked me if I wanted to either “Help the guy” or “Leave”. I guess there would be certain situations where the caller may not want to engage in any further help. But I told him I would. He told make sure his body was straight. As soon as I touched he, he swatted my arm away. So now at least I know he’s somewhat conscious. I told the operator that the man was semi-conscious so he told me to just leave him be. I did.
After a while, I decided to check my location on my iPhone to see the address I gave out was correct, it wasn’t…aye. You see, where I live there are two streets next to the railway station, railway parade and railway street. It’s easy to mix up which one is which and tonight I just happen to get it wrong. I had to called them up again and try and rectify it, and in doing that…they sent ANOTHER ambulance. I could hear the ambo alarms flaring off on the other side of the railroad and just thinking “Omg, this wouldn’t have happened if I got it right the first time”. In the mean time, as I was waiting this other car came up:
Man: Hey brother, is he okay?
Me: I just called an ambulance
Man: Do you know him?
Me: Nah
Man: Is he passed out or something?
Me: Yeah
He parked the car and got out, I was thinking “Wow, somebody else that cares”. Turns out later he actually knew the guy from one of his friends.
Soon after that I had this other guy approach me asking if I had called an ambulance, I said that I have and he replied that they were two on its way on the other side of the railway tracks. I’d figured that much out myself.
The ambos came and they stepped out and walked calmly along.
The thing was, they probably thought that the other dude that was now standing over the passed-out guy called the ambulance. Ignored me completely and began asking the standing dude about the guy on the ground. It was pretty funny though, the “ambos” were so bogan!
Ambo: Hey mate! *pokes the guy* You alright? It’s the ambos mate! We’re here to help you.
Man: *groans*
Ambo: Had a bit to drink had ya?
Man: *mutters some word*
Ambo: Heroine eh?
Meh, go figure.
I asked one of the other ambos if I could leave, she smiled at me and said “yeah of course”. After that, one of the other ambos (there were 4) said something in which I replied with “Yeah, I called the ambulance”. They replied with “You did good mate, you did good. Thanks mate.”
That made me feel better as if my actions were justified. As I drove past, I noticed the dude on the ground was now sitting upright, I’m sure if he can afford the heroine, he can afford the ambulance bill if they decide to charge him.
Sorry if this entry feels more “disjointed” than usual. I just wanted to jot it down before I forget everything next morning. Haha.
Never take internet for granted

I posted before that I will be moving to TPG from Optus Cable. Well, it’s been around 3 weeks and there has been no progress. I called up Telstra and asked for a status report…
Me: I would like a status report on the transfer
Telstra Rep: Okay give me a moment while I take a look
Me: Sure
Telstra Rep: Well, you have an appointment confirmation
Me: What appointment confirmation?
Telstra Rep: When you applied for the transfer
Me: I haven’t had any information regarding an appointment
Telstra Rep: It was made when we filed the transfer
Me: Well, I don’t know anything about it…can you tell me when the appointment is?
Telstra Rep: I don’t know when it is, we just file the transfer
Me: Okay…so…you don’t know when it is, I don’t know when it is, so who does?
Telstra Rep: The people who we filed it to should know, I don’t have that information here with me
Me: *exasperated* Well…can you transfer me to a department that do have this information?
After around 10 minutes of being put on hold, she finally told me that the appointment is on the 16th between 8am and 12pm.
That’s the thing with customer support reps, if the request involves any kind of effort they will try and avoid it as much as possible until you push them. For the most part, they have the information just too lazy to access it. So yes, on the 16th, the infrastructure will be setup and after that we probably have to wait another week or so for TPG to activate us. I’ll probably give them another call, put in some nice words to hurry the process up a bit. Like I said, everything is possible, people are generally too lazy to do it…I would know…working for tech support for a year teaches you things.
In the mean time, we’ve used up 67% of our Internet. After telling my cousin NOT to download anything, he ended up downloading 14% in one day. Yesterday, I told him to download off-peak…and he did exactly that…downloaded off-peak and used up all the off-peak data and ended up using up a further 16% of our on-peak data. Now we only have 4gbs left…over the next 23 days.
I’ll probably write up a system, where he makes requests and I process them, so he doesn’t have to do ANYTHING.
