Everyday Frustrations

I realised something the other day. When was the last time somebody’s phone went off in a cinema? I honestly cannot remember. Maybe I’ve been lucky? You don’t even see those ads in movies which tell you to turn off your phones any more. Have people become more aware? Is it socially wrong to have phones turned on in the cinema? Well…it definitely is something that I’m proud of…that people have realised not to have their phones turned on or simply put them on silent.

However, when it comes to shutting up in a cinema, nobody obeys that rule. Okay, sure I break it every now and then, but some people just talk way too loud disrupting the movie for everybody. It’s not too bad when the movie isn’t that good but when you actually want to enjoy the movie it can get rather frustrating. Although, my most recent incident was watching a movie that wasn’t that…captivating. I went to watch Twilight yesterday…what can I say…it was too slow…yet…too fast. Too slow in the sense that it just droned on and on. Too fast in the sense that it just skipped through the book. To be fair…the book was never intended to be a movie…I’d LOVE to see what the final movie would be like. It’ll be 2 hours of waiting for the action…with nothing but disappointment.

Being one of those movies that entices school girls…the school girls couldn’t help but make conversation every now and then during the movie. To be honest, that didn’t really annoy me…mainly a) I’ve read the book b) The movie wasn’t that interesting and c) well…I read the book. But towards the half-way mark…somebody actually began talking on the phone. She was sitting on the other side of the cinema and I could hear her…not to mention the people sitting around her. Well…for whatever reason inside me…I decided to yell across the cinema “Get off the phone!” which attracted several head turns and a slap to the arm from Diana…but at least she got off the phone.

Later on we went to a newly opened Taiwanese restaurant for Dinner. It was a nice clean looking place. Looked extremely busy so we thought the service/food would be good. Food was average but the service was pretty terrible.

  1. We weren’t given a menu
  2. We weren’t given any eating utensils prior to food being served
  3. They gave us somebody else’s dish (which we ate :P )
  4. We were given our 3rd dish before our rice was given (after having to ask for it)
  5. They gave us another wrong dish
  6. We were never supplied with our soup

In the end, we couldn’t bothered asking…again…for the soup and decided to just leave.

I felt sorry for this other table who sat there for 5 minutes…without being served any tea. What sort of Taiwanese restaurant doesn’t serve tea when the customer is seated?!

Their entire system is flawed. I counted 4 waiters/waitresses serving the entire restaurant, which seemed enough but they obviously had a lot more on their hands than they could deal with. The chefs kept on making wrong orders. Apart from the negatives…they were giving away a 20% discount for being a start up restaurant. Well…if they don’t pull themselves together, they’ll probably close down soon enough due to angry customers.
