Hi There Stranger

So there I was…sitting on the platform benches going over my Databases Lectures. I had missed my early train so I had to wait another 15 minutes for the next train. *sigh*

So there I was…when suddenly, a gust of wind comes flowing past me, blasting the papers out of my hand. It appeared to be like a scene from a movie…but yeah…both pages hit the person next to me, he caught one page but lost it again, one page flew behind me to the next platform whilst the other page flew onto the tracks. So I was a sad panda that I had lost my two pages. I sat back down looking at the man sitting next to me just as shocked and amazed as to what had happened:

Me: Don’t worry about it. But thanks.
Him: So you’re studying I.T.?
Me: Yeah
Him: This is what you’ll be doing when you graduate *points down at pieces of paper in his hands*
Me: Whats that?
Him: Just an application *rambles on about what it needs to do*…just some simple stuff
Me: Coool…
Him: Where do you study?
Me: University of Sydney, I’m studying Bachelor of IT
Him: Just plain IT?
(I thought he wanted me to do something a combined degree or something)
Me: yeah
Him: No majors?
Me: Well, I hope to Major in computer science and information systems

And then some old lady sat between us and I went back to studying.

It was at this moment which I had this thought. Remember the Bus seating problem? Yeah…that one, now imagine this one…you just met a stranger…you’ve began talking to them…now if you were to get on the train/bus would it be appropriate/awkward to sit next to them?

As the train arrived, we got up and he handed me a piece of newspaper telling me to read it, on it it had a job ad for an IT student. We got on the train and he sat down on a six seater…so I sat next to him and we began talking. We talked about the IT boom, work, studies, Russel Peters etc…really nice guy, turns out his name is Raj and he also lives in Kogarah. It’s funny how on weird occasions you can just talk to someone you’ve never met more easily than people you’ve known for a year. I guess with some people you can just talk to but with others it’s a pain.

We got off at Kogarah and went our separate ways.

…to be continued?

Free Movie Tickets

So here I was (still am) at work…taking another call for some soul in Hong Kong when my functional lead leaves two free movie tickets onto my desk and then saying “Lucky…you’ll get an email explaining why”. So I thought w00t, probably because I met the benchmark in the performance report.
I checked my emails again and apparently the team got their hands on some free tickets and are giving them out as a “Thank You”. But the main reason I got it was because apparently I topped the Q3 in the frontline team :) W00t. Not that that means anything but still, it’s a nice recognition I guess.
So yeah…I know who I’ll be spending the free movie tickets with :P
I probably see myself working at this job for a minimum of another 6 month and a max of 9 months. 6 months because to finally complete my ONE year of experience with IBM/CISCO and perhaps another 3 months for a holiday job.
Surprisingly, I’m doing okay…in my studies at least. Managed to get my assignments done (excluding the case with my maths assignment which I got 7/20 for). I need to catch up soooo much on discrete maths. So yeah…I’ll try and dota less…especially at UNI. But…but…*sigh*
I dunno, everything seems to exciting lately. Well…not really…but Diana will be getting new computer and new interwebs…how can that NOT be exciting! hahaha.
Anywho, time to get back to work.
Laters.
