Cisco -> IBM -> Nexus -> Me

Well, I’m contracted under Nexus working for IBM working at CISCO.

I had two training sessions…and yeah think it went smoothly apart from the bit where my trainer went "You guys must have an awesome memory, because when I was doing this I was taking heaps of notes". Yeah…

The kitchen is awesome, unlike some of the other companies I’ve worked at…which just had coffee these guys have their kitchen packed. They have cereal for people who want to have breakfast and 3 fridges. One fridge is filled with milk, another fridge filled with Soft Drinks and another drink filled with Juices. They also have this place for cookies, pretzels and other random stuff. Yup…free food is always good.

We ended up talking to one of the people and got our training shifted to the 21st since we have exams and stuff. Did I mention that I’ll also be getting a laptop? I’m not sure what the specs are but I know the model and it’s a T60. The specs for the T61 involves 2gb ram, 128 mb gfxcard, core 2 duo processor. Which is pretty decent. Hopefully the T60 isn’t that under speced. According to Cnet though there’s 1 gb of ram, 2ghz core duo processor, 128mb gfxcard and it’s 2.8kg. Well a free laptop is a free laptop :P

Well I really should be studying for my exams, currently I’ve only really studied for Calculus, barely touched psychology and need to start on the rest :P There’s going to be a study session for COSC on monday so I’ll attend that apart from that I think I should be relatively fine.

I also managed to get the Timetabling Job for USYD, however, I rejected it and asked if there were any casual positions available. They did, and I took that up :) So hopefully, I’ll be making a fair bit of money over the Summer Holidays :D Overtime ftw! They pay us 1.5x for overtime and 2x for public holidays. I only get paid 20 bucks an hour though…so that sucks…but meh, can’t complain…free laptop and food. So yeah…40bucks on Christmas…if I work 8 hours…then it’ll be 320 bucks! W00t!

Anywho, enough talk about money, I need to be able to do the job…it seems rather hectic, have to know all these stuff…new stuff…and they use Internet Explorer 6 rather than 7 so there’s no tabs. I’ll have to use my Alt-Tab skills rather than my Ctrl-Tab skills :( I hate Alt-tab, it’s sooo lame. I especially hate using programs where the tabbing feature isn’t implemented…like PDF readers and window managers…it’s not hard!

Can’t wait until exams are over. Speaking of exams, 3 more days until HSC is OVER!!! w00t!!!

Anywho, Ciao.

Somebody save me

Something is plaguing my mind. I’m feeling rather emo.

But yes, how do you stop hating someone you hate?

It goes something like this:

You first find them annoying. Then they keep on doing the same things that annoy you. You then begin to hate them. Then all of a sudden everything is a race. The more things that they which supercedes you, you begin to resent them even further to the extent where your sole purpose is to be better. However, the feeling is insatiable, there is no limit to this feeling, once they supercede you fall and feel like crap again.

I’m in a similar predicament. It started from Day 1. This annoyingness which is always there…and ironically…they’ll be there for years to come.

But who knows, in the future we may become quite good friends. But it’s a thought I’d rather not imagine.

At least unlike before I have somebody to love at the same time. Mmmm…contrasting emotions.

I Drank LP Juice

Yesterday…was a turning point in my life. I went to a concert. But no it’s not just any concert. It was a LINKIN PARK CONCERT.

Okay, I’ll just do a recap here goes.

Okay, so in the beginning it was confusing as to what we were planning on going. I think I mistyped Lisa’s number so two of my smses didn’t get through. So basically in the end it was decided that we’d get to Central at 7 and walk to Entertainment Center. I got there first…waited around 10 minutes for Jase to show up and then waited another 10 minutes for Lisa to show up. I’m used to doing a lot of waiting for other people so it was fine. It only seemed long cause I was so excited about the concert.

So yeah, we caught up and walked to the place. We got out our tickets and they took it. I was like "Noooooo I want my tickets back!!!". We entered the door and was like "okay, what the hell do we do now?" since we were n00bs and didn’t know what to do. But then we just walked into this door and it felt sooo grandeur as we walked into the Arena. You see people everywhere and it just felt awesome. Heaps of people were there already and yeah…we just stood around talking whilst Chris Cornell appeared.

Seriously, omg, Chris Cornell and his band played for like 1 hour and it was sooooo long. Omg, it was just like "I didn’t pay monies to see you". It was sooo loud as well and I could barely hear the lyrics something along the lines of "Save me" or something.

So anywho, after that the stage cleared and we waited for LP to show up. And it was soooo cool. The curtains were drawn and then music began playing and yeah…omg the use of lighting and stuff just blew my mind away. Once the curtains fell away everybody just charged forward. I felt sorry for the guy behind me, he spilt his coke and bits of it came onto me. But the fact was nobody cared…and after a while the stickiness just got absorbed by all the sweat.

They played heaps of songs…Numb, Somewhere I belong, Don’t Say, One Step Closer, In the End, Breaking the Habit, Place for My Head, Pushing me Away, Crawling, Given Up, Leave out all the Rest, Bleed it out, What I’ve Done, No More Sorrow, Little Things Give you away and probably some other songs I’ve forgotten…

Omg, I wish they’d just play all the songs :P

Yeah it was hot, steamy, sweaty (sounds a lot like something else huh?). But it was all good, lots of jumping and screaming. I was like screaming "I Bleed it out digging deeper just to throw it away" and yeah it felt really good except for the bit after where my voice felt like dying :P

Mike threw water into the crowd and I drank some. I feel fulfilled.

Lisa took some photos, I think, so she’d better give them to me. So I can upload them here :)

Afterwards, Lisa went away to meet up with friends, Jase and I went to 7/11 and I bought a Large Slurpy (they didn’t have any Super slurpies) and I finished it sooo quickly and afterwards I was still thirsty…

Jase also managed to get a bunch of tickets but none of them were ours. I shoulda gone back to look for ours but meh.

It was an awesome night.

Best 100 bucks I’ve ever spent.

My Third “First” Real Job

I remember when I got my FIRST job it was like "oh my, my first job,
how awesome" and then the sudden realisation that working at Pizza Hut
doesn’t really classify as a proper "job". So after working at Pizza
Hut for over a year it was just like "Do Not Want!" and I quit and I
used my hsc as the excuse.

So after a while  I was like "I need monies" so then I began applying
for jobs and after 1 reply and 3 no replies getting a job seemed a lot
harder than it seems. Just when I had stopped looking…one week later
I got a call from this woman called Katrina (how I remember her name I
have no idea…maybe it’s cause of her voice…) and after one phone
call, I was employed.

I was pretty excited…and I was thinking "wow…my second "first" real
job" and then I realised that my job can hardly classify as a job as:

a) I didn’t even get an interview
b) An idiot could do the job
c) The job description didn’t even match what we were doing

Who knew the term "Desktop Rollout Assistant" was synonymous with the
term "Unplugging and replugging computer parts". The pay was heaps good
though…22 an hour for work that anybody can do. It was good whilst it
lasted…by lasted I mean the time when they actually gave me heaps of
work to do. But after the "big" American Express project has
finished…it got a bit quiet. I’ve only worked ONCE since the day
before Valentine’s day. I’m also working tomorrow…so that would make
it TWICE in nearly 10 months.

By the way for those who were clueless I was pretty much living by
myself for the entire week…and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was
great. But anywho, after getting home on Tuesday I saw the local paper
and I thought to myself "I should start looking for that job" so I
decided to look for one but like usual the jobs on the paper for rather
faggy. So then I decided to go onto seak…and I typed in student under
search keyword…sydney as the location and I.T. as the category. The
results popped up and I was saw this entry that was rather enticing…I
applied immediately.

The next day I got a call and I was rather surprised…the guy began
giving this mini phone interview which in my opinion didn’t go too well
but he said I did okay and is going to submit my application to the
"real" company. Can anyone guess this company? :P So yes…I got rather
excited…he then called me like 1 hour later asking me what time I’m
free for any interview. I told him my times and that night I had an
confirmation email sent to my inbox saying that my interview was at 3.

I got rather excited…well come on…who wouldn’t be? I mean…rarely
do you get THESE opportunities. And naturally I began thinking about
bad thoughts of me failing. Anywho, the interview was today and I
brought change of clothes…relatively nice looking interview clothes.
I went to the place at 3 and we began the interview. The interviewees
were EXTREMELY nice. I liked it even more that one of them was
Indian/Bangladeshi mainly because then there wouldn’t be any
"discrimination". It went REALLY smoothly (except for one or two
hiccups :P ). After the interview the guy began showing me around the
site and he was like "When you’re here you can take a look at that
screen…blah…blah…blah". I was like thinking "wait a minute…what
did he say…does that mean i got the job?".

I got back to UNI and at around 5 o’clock the recruiter called me up saying that I had got the job!

Okay…you might be wondering what this job is…well…it’s nothing
flashy or impressive…but the fact that I got it means I’m not a bum
anymore. I’ll be a desktop support dude for…*drum rolls*…IBM
*ding*! It’s going to be GREAT…hopefully. I mean I can improve my
communication/people skills and improve my IT skills. I’m meant to
support around 450 different applications. Pretty damn cool.

Anywho, this is my blog, thanks for reading.

I’m out.

Yes…you keep on reading my blog

This blog is becoming more empty as I tend to blog a lot less.

But what can I possibly say?

Alright I know what I can say.

I remember this one incident in Year 7 where I just got back from Music camp. Yup, the good old days of Year 7. I remember vividly how cruel it was to make friends as to some it was like a game where the universe revolved around them. I shall not review their name but let’s call them…Tiny.

Okay…so I got back from Music Camp only to have my friend tell me that my so-called friend Tiny had been making fun of me whilst I was away. I just brushed it as away since he didn’t say it to my face. Funny…people always get upset when people talk behind their back but what would you really prefer…talking behind your behind or insulting you in your face? Anywho, like I said I didn’t take notice of it too much, however, it didn’t surprise me too much since this "friend" was such a tool from the beginning…(and always were even after the 6 years).

Okay, so we were all working up to Music…to Ms Gilmore’s class *shudder* and as usual we would all leave our bags outside…for some reason a small group of people were highly inclined to get inside to music…at the same time shouting "I’m sitting next to Tiny" or "Tiny come sit next to me". Naturally I was irritated by this and I made a comment which I honestly cannot remember…and then Tiny said "Won’t you feel good if everybody wanted to sit next to you?". Well sure…who wouldn’t want to be the centre of all the attention? However, I wouldn’t want anybody to pine over me…and I wouldn’t like to pine over anyone else either (apart from my dear Hobo-friend). Tiny then walked into the room where a sit was specifically saved for him whilst I sat next to another friend which looked rather disinterested with me sitting next to him.

Okay I’m going to be slightly more emo now. Since I’m the "gay asian emo" as Peter likes to call me for going to the Linkin Park concert as quote "Only gay asian emos likes Linkin Park". Yes Jase (if you’re reading this) I’m afraid you’re gay.

I’m just thinking to myself…did I really ever "fit in" with my group of High School friends or was I just a "Nth wheel" tagging along? I never got into any fad that they were into. This included CS, Runescape, Magic, Fencing, Table Tennis and DOTA. The reason I never liked DotA was cause I was so shit at it. It irritated me every time I got killed. Now that I’m better and know what I’m doing it’s slightly more encouraging, and the fact that I’m not on the bottom of the ladder all the time helps as well.

The biggest fad of them all is doing Commerce Degrees and like me I decided to chase my interests. I just don’t get why I love computers so much! Maybe cause I was brought up using Windows 3.1…and playing Prince of Persia…maybe…but I must admit I’m far from being the "best" at USYD. That aside, me doing a BIT degree at USYD is like being a arrogant brat. It’s like having my parents tell me to go to UNSW and doing Commerce…not only do I not do a Commerce degree, I got to a different uni altogether!

Yes yes, here I am again…talking about this shit. When will I ever get over it? I don’t know…but I guess I think about it a lot. But more and more I find myself appreciating the fact that I did come to USYD, learn all the new stuff I’ve learnt and meet all the new friends I’ve met.

That said…list of people who have groped me:
* Sam
* Peter
* Ben

List of people who I’ve converted to Aznism:
* Sam
* Peter
* Ben
* Alex
* Anybody else that I forgot who use the word "la" at the end of every sentence.

I don’t know how the "z0r" thing came into place…but I’m pretty sure it was me whilst we were walking down Redfern after our INFO1903 exam.

Anywho I need to go to UNI to work on my TREAP which is oh so sexy.

Ciao you later!
