Wo He Xing Fu You Yue Ding
Mar 20th
God, I was listening to this song today and I just reminisced soooo hard to around this time last year, or perhaps another couple weeks more around this time last year.
Man…but I guess it was this time last year where I really got into S.H.E :S I hardly ever listen to them intentionally, I have like around 20 songs on my mp3 player except I never know which songs to delete since they’re all good "mind blank" songs. I.E. songs you listen to when you’re not really paying attention to what your listening to. So yeah…I remember the period where I had at least 3 of their albums on my mp3 player and having Kelvin constantly shoving his earbud into me, he just won’t listen! No means No.
But anyways, I miss those days. Where it was so exciting having these little surprises come into your life. And yes for your information I have S.H.E. playing right now in the background. God.
I remember listening to SHE whilst walking down Railroad Parade on my way to the station at around 6:40AM.
I remember the random chit chat during SDD with Francis listening in in the background.
I remember going to K² for the first time.
I remember the train ride home.
I remember the shots of happiness.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to experience your memories again? *hint hint* *nudge nudge* @ nobody specific *whistles* =P
The 10% Brain Myth
Mar 17th
From Weiten – Pyschology Themes and Variations – 7th Edition 2007.
Experts believe that there are roughly 100 billion neurons in the human brain. Obviously, this is only an estimate. If you counted them nonstop at the rate of one per second, you’d be counting for over 3000 years! And, remember, most neurons have synaptic connections to many other neurons, so there may be 100 trillion synapses in a human brain!
The fact that our neurons and synapses are so abundant as to be uncountable is probably why it is widely believed that "we only use 10% of our brains." This curious tidbit of folk wisdom is utter nonsense. There is no way to quantify the percentage of the brain that is "in use" at any specific time. And think about, if 90% of the human brain consists of unused "excess baggage," localised brain damage would not be a problem much of the time. In reality, damage in even tiny areas of the brain usually has severe, disruptive effects. The 10% myth appeals to people because it suggests that they have a huge reservoir of untapped potential. Hucksters selling self-improvement programs often disseminate the 10% myth because it makes their cliams and promises seem more plausible ("Unleash your potential!").
It’s okay
Mar 17th
It’s okay.
Translation: It sucks.
Sometimes I just feel like breaking something. The closest thing to me is my keyboard. I feel like snapping it in half…watching as the individual keys fly off into every direction.
It seems like I have no time for anything or anyone and that makes me sad. I don’t know what is me. Was it me last night? or another part of me? I like that part of me. The social, outgoing, uncaring, carefree, happy-go-lucky…me. Instead I’m often the boring, uninterested, uninteresting…me. It’s hard making new friends or perhaps close friends. 2007 seems like an extremely shitty year for me. The pair of earphones I bought is stuffed. The right earbud has fallen off. I’ve only used it for 2 days.
I just cbb anymore turning to the person next to me and going "Hi, I’m John." followed by a "nice to meet you. So what degree you doing?" followed by a response like "Science" or "Medical Science" and then realising you’ll probably never see them again the next day.
Do I regret it? Probably not. But I just hope that somethings could just be better.
"AROUSAL FACILITATES THE PERFORMANCE OF THE DOMINANT RESPONSE".
I guess I chose psychology for one primary reason to learn about social psychology. It’s pretty much all common sense, HOWEVER, we all like to be told things we already know thus making us more aware of it when the time occurs.
We learnt that when there’s an audience or fellow competitors we tend to perform better in the stuff we’re good at. That’s obviously true. We’ve all experienced it.
E.g. Playing a pool game. When there’s an audience you tend to do a lot better. I mean we all like to show off our egos to demonstrate how truly great we are.
Though at the end of a lecture I also began thinking about a possible experiment that could be conducted HOWEVER, the variables will be extremely hard to maintain.
Say two people are engaged in a pool match, how much better would one person do if someone that they liked was in the audience as oppose having a general audience? Would it make a crap pool player do better if a person that they liked was in the audience or would it make them perform even worse?
It’s okay.
I’m a “chick magnet”…literally…
Mar 13th
According to Sally’s bro…"nm…jerry just called u chick magnet cos of ur dp".
If you want to see the photo it’s uploaded below.
Anywho, one thing I haven’t talked about is my brand spanking new computer
E6400
P5b Deluxe Wifi
256mb 7600GT
2*1024 DDR2 Corsair Value Select
Antec Sonata II Case
22" WS CHIMEI Monitor (*drools*)
Ex-110 Wireless Desktop
Logitech 2.1 Speakers of which i can’t remember the model name
I love my Widescreen. The 17" just looks ridiculous compared to it.
Anywho, I’m a routine plus the odd spontaneity type person. I don’t mind spontaneity but when it happens every single day it gets a bit frustrating. I want my routine!!! Back in High School, you would expect what was going to happen. Right now, there is no routine at UNI. I mean sure there’s a timetable but like you don’t always sit next to the same people…and with breaks you don’t always have someone to hang with. I’m still meeting an average of 3 people a day with the percentage of seeing the person the next day being around 5%. Seriously, you see them once and you hardly ever see them again…and if you do it’ll just be on the "street". *sigh*
Every time my phone sets off at 6am I’m still in my dreamworld…literally…thinking that the alarm was some part of the dream…only until the 3rd snooze do I trully realise that I need to get my butt out of bed and get ready for uni, to start the process all over again.
Anywho, until next time…
開不了口
Mar 9th
I spend around 40 hours at UNI. 22 of which are actually work related and the other 18 involve the long monotonous breaks. I’ve also found that doing science degrees sleep is really optional. I get back at around 6:30 or 7:30ish, have dinner so that gives me abount 4 or 3 hours to do work, followed by taking a shower and then getting around 6 hours of sleep to start all over again.
I think I’ll sign up for the hip-hop club and participate on the Thursday lessons which is from 1-3pm, apparently its $4 per lesson if you’re a member and $6 if you’re not. So no matter what it’s pretty MW for 2 horus
.
I think I will use this weekend to go over everything, my lectures + tutes.
I’ve also been going to the gym for over 1 week now and I’ve gained 1kg of muscle
. Ahahaha, I guess I’m part of the few who are happy to have gained weight. But yeah…I need to get more meals in and train more which is a problem. I think I have it pretty well planned out. Tuesdays = training with Personal Trainer for the next 4 weeks, Fridays I’ll go home, gym, rest for a while, head back to uni for Sutekh meeting. Then i’ll do the same for Saturday Sunday. So 4 training session per week. Should be fine.
I missed my first Sutekh meeting today
There weren’t any motivation to go and so I just opted out. *sigh*
Psychology is heaps interesting and Soft1901 and Info1903 is okay, except I have to work a lot harder to be on the same par if not higher than the rest of everybody else. I want HD.
Maths on the other hand is a piece of crap and that’s all I’ll ever say about it. I seriously need to work, otherwise by the end of this holidays I’ll be broke again
*sigh*
Part 6 – Airport
Mar 2nd
I seriously cbf blogging about hk anymore. It seems so long ago.
The airport is perhaps the only interesting part of HK. But yeah, by then I was getting utterly frustrated with everything. All I wanted to do was just check my email. That’s all! So yes, at the airport, I landed at this random electronics shop and checked my email. I sent a really quick half arsed email due to the fact the shopassistant was eyeing me. I felt bad about doing anything halfarsed so I was craving the abilitiy to send another email.
We walked around looking for the Qantas Lounge. Up and down, left and right. After FINALLY finding it, we realised that it wasn’t available for Staff as it was shared with British Airlines. That seriously pissed me off. All I want to do is just log onto hotmail, send an email and I’ll be off. Jeebus and they won’t even let me do that.
In addition, I was sooo sick of Asian food, breakfast, lunch and dinner all at restaraunts so I took this opportunity to just buy Burger King. A burger never tasted so good.
As we were about to walk down to the gate we finally saw free internet hubs. So I found myself a comp and began typing up my little email without having to worry about time.
But yes, the airport is pretty cool, they even have oxygen bars which I thought was pretty cool and wouldn’t mind trying out.
Ah well, it’s good to be sleeping on my bed and be infront of my computer and enjoying the serene neighbourhood.
